Odoo vs MYOB Acumatica: an honest comparison from the team that implements both

We'll take one real business, cost it on both platforms, and show you where each one genuinely wins and where each one gets hard. No winner decided in advance. We implement whichever one you choose, so our recommendation isn't made before we meet you.

  • What each platform costs beyond year one, including the numbers that never appear in quotes
  • What each one demands from your own team during and after implementation
  • A decision framework you can apply to your own business the same afternoon

Agenda

What we'll cover in 45 minutes

  1. 0 to 5 min

Where both platforms sit in 2026

What has changed this year in pricing, licensing and releases, and why the comparison looks different than it did even twelve months ago.

  2. 5 to 20 min

    The cost-off

One real Australian business, anonymised, costed live on both platforms. Licence pricing in year one, then years two and three. Implementation. And the costs that never make it into anyone's quote.

  3. 20 to 30 min

Where each one wins, where each one gets hard

Financials, Australian payroll and compliance, inventory and operations, customisation, and the trade-offs nobody puts on their pricing page.

  4. 30 to 35 min

    What each demands from you

The part most comparisons skip: the internal time, decisions and data work each platform asks of your own team.

  5. 35 to 45 min

The decision framework, then your questions

A practical way to score your own business, then open Q&A for as long as the questions last.

The centrepiece

One business. Both platforms. Real numbers.

Most comparisons list features. Features don't blow budgets, totals do. So we've taken one real Australian business from our own client base, anonymised it, and priced it properly on both platforms, the way we would in a real scoping exercise.

Neither column is the answer on its own. The framework for reading them against your own business is what you'll take away.

Your presenters

Two platforms, two specialists, one referee's whistle

The Odoo corner

Bill Buitrago

Director of the Odoo practice, Auboros

Bill has led Odoo implementations across distribution, manufacturing and services businesses on versions 15 through 19, and he will argue Odoo's corner the way he scopes it for clients: strengths first, costs included, weaknesses admitted.

The MYOB Acumatica corner

Joshua McKernie

MYOB Acumatica consultant, Auboros

Joshua works in the MYOB Acumatica practice, and he will make the case for Acumatica's financial depth and ANZ localisation with the same rule: nothing claimed that we have not delivered.

Worth 45 minutes if

  • You're outgrowing Xero, MYOB AccountRight or spreadsheets and both of these platforms are on your shortlist
  • You're already on Odoo or MYOB Acumatica and want a straight answer on whether the grass is greener
  • You've had one platform quoted and want to sanity-check it against the alternative before you sign
  • You're the one who has to defend the ERP budget internally and needs numbers, not adjectives

Probably not for you if

  • You need a payroll-only or accounting-only tool, this is a whole-of-business systems discussion
  • Your business runs fewer than 5 people, the economics we'll show start to matter from around that size

The referee

Why you can trust the referee

Most ERP comparisons are written by a partner who sells exactly one of the platforms. We implement both. Auboros is an Odoo Silver Partner and an approved MYOB Acumatica FastStart partner, based in Brisbane, with 15 verified references across 15+ live sites and 100% client retention. When we recommend a platform, it's because it fits the business in front of us, not because it's the only thing on our price list.

FAQ

Before you ask

Is this a sales pitch?

No. It's the comparison we walk real clients through, done in public. There's no offer at the end, and the Q&A is open season on both platforms.

Will you show actual dollar figures?

Yes. Licence costs for year one and years two to three, implementation costs, and the costs that don't appear in quotes, all for the same anonymised business on both platforms.

What if I can't make 11am on the day?

Register anyway. Every registrant gets the full recording, usually within 24 hours.

Do I need to have picked a platform already?

No, undecided is the ideal starting point. The decision framework in the last segment is designed for exactly that position.

What happens after the webinar?

Nothing, unless you want it to. If the session raises questions specific to your business, you can book a free consultation with us and we'll go through them, on either platform.
