How to Choose MYOB Acumatica Implementation Services: Routes, Cost and What to Check
How to choose MYOB Acumatica implementation services: 12 weeks on a fixed-scope program or 3 to 6 months partner-led, A$20,000 to A$75,000 ex GST.

Updated 7 October 2026: rewritten as a buyer’s checklist. Added the short answer, the at a glance block, a table comparing the three delivery routes, indicative cost and timeline ranges from our cost and timeline guides, the questions to ask a partner, and a live FAQ. Generic material from the March version was removed.
Choose MYOB Acumatica implementation services by matching the delivery route to your scope, then checking the partner behind it. A fixed-scope program such as FastStart goes live in 12 weeks. A standard partner-led project typically takes three to six months and A$20,000 to A$75,000 ex GST. Ask for a written scope, a named team, a data migration plan and references.
At a glance
- Who it is for: Australian businesses of roughly 20 or more staff that have chosen or shortlisted MYOB Acumatica (called MYOB Advanced until 2024) and now need to decide who implements it
- Problem it solves: MYOB Acumatica is sold and implemented through partners, so the implementation service you pick sets the cost, the timeline and how the first year on the system goes
- Platforms: MYOB Acumatica
- Typical cost: AUD 20,000 to 75,000 ex GST for implementation depending on scope, plus named-user licences; indicative ranges from our MYOB Acumatica cost guide, with your own figure quoted by the partner
- Typical timeline: 12 weeks on a fixed-scope program; three to six months for most partner-led projects; nine months or more for multi-entity rollouts with custom integrations

MYOB does not implement MYOB Acumatica for you. Its product page points buyers to trained and certified partners and describes the work in six stages: defining requirements, designing, building, testing readiness, go-live and change management. Every partner follows roughly that shape. The differences that matter are in how much of it is fixed in writing before you sign, who does the work, and what happens after go-live.
What do MYOB Acumatica implementation services include?
A full implementation covers six pieces of work, and a quote that leaves one out is not cheaper, it is incomplete.
- Discovery and scoping. Workshops that map how you quote, sell, buy, ship, bill and report. The fixed price and the timeline come out of this, so a thin discovery shows up later as variations.
- Configuration. Company and branch setup, chart of accounts, GST codes, workflows, approval rules, user roles, forms and reports.
- Data migration. Customers, suppliers, items, opening balances and open transactions, cleaned and loaded. Most of the effort sits with your team, not the partner.
- Integrations and customisation. Connections to ecommerce, warehouse, banking or industry systems, and any changes beyond standard configuration.
- Testing and training. User acceptance testing on your own scenarios, then role-based training close to cutover.
- Go-live and support. The cutover itself, a hypercare period, and the ongoing support agreement that follows.
If payroll is in scope, treat it as its own workstream. Single Touch Payroll (STP) onboarding, award setup and a parallel pay run have their own calendar, and many businesses cut payroll over on a different date from finance.
Which implementation route fits your business?
There are three ways MYOB Acumatica gets implemented in Australia. They differ far more in scope and flexibility than in software, because the platform underneath is the same.
| Fixed-scope program (FastStart) | Standard partner-led implementation | Multi-entity or heavily customised project | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Licence model | Named-user subscription, quoted through the partner | Named-user subscription, quoted through the partner | Named-user subscription, quoted through the partner |
| Australian localisation | GST and Business Activity Statement (BAS) reporting set up from a template | GST and BAS configured to your entity; payroll with STP if in scope | Per-entity GST and BAS, intercompany and consolidation; payroll as a separate workstream |
| Hosting | MYOB cloud | MYOB cloud | MYOB cloud |
| Customisation path | Standard processes; customisation is limited by design | Configuration first, customisation where there is a business case | Customisation and development scoped as their own stages |
| Integrations | Kept to the program’s defined scope | Each integration scoped and priced separately | Several integrations, usually phased |
| Typical implementation cost | Fixed price, quoted by the delivering partner | AUD 20,000 to 75,000 ex GST depending on modules | Above the standard ranges; quoted after paid discovery |
| Typical go-live | 12 weeks | Three to six months | Nine months or more |
| Best fit | Wholesale distributors with standard workflows | Single-entity businesses in finance, distribution, manufacturing, construction or services | Groups with several entities, sites or unusual processes |
| Watch-outs | You adopt the standard process; the wrong tool for unusual operations | Scope growth mid-project and slow internal decisions | Budget and timeline risk grows with every integration |
The cost row comes from the ranges in our cost guide: about A$20,000 to A$30,000 for finance only, A$30,000 to A$50,000 with distribution and inventory, and A$55,000 to A$75,000 with manufacturing. Those are indicative, and MYOB licences are quoted separately through the partner. We are an approved Queensland partner for MYOB FastStart for wholesale distribution; other partners deliver the program too, and it only suits a distributor prepared to run standard processes.
How long does a typical MYOB Acumatica implementation take?
Three to six months from kickoff to go-live for most projects we see. Discovery takes 2 to 4 weeks, configuration 4 to 8, data migration 2 to 6, user acceptance testing 2 to 4, and training and go-live 1 to 2, with some of that running in parallel. Our post on how long a MYOB Acumatica implementation takes breaks each phase down.
Company size moves the timeline less than people expect. Data quality, the number of integrations and how quickly your team makes decisions move it more. Capterra’s research on Australian software buyers found fewer than one in three businesses successfully adopt new software, from a survey of 281 Australian decision-makers published in October 2025. In our experience the cause is rarely the software.
“When two quotes for the same MYOB Acumatica project are A$25,000 apart, the gap is almost never the day rate. One partner has priced the data migration and the testing, and the other has left them for you to find out about.”

How does the MYOB Acumatica implementation process compare with other ERP providers?
The main difference is who does the work. Some ERP vendors implement their own product with an in-house services team, and some sell only through partners. MYOB Acumatica is partner-led: the licence is MYOB’s and is quoted through the partner, the services agreement is with the partner, and the partner stays your first point of contact after go-live.
That has two practical effects. You can compare several partners on the same software, which gives you some pricing tension and a real choice of team. And the quality of the result depends on the partner you pick more than on anything MYOB does, which is why the checks below matter. If you are still deciding between platforms, our Odoo vs MYOB Acumatica comparison sets the two we implement side by side.
What to check before you sign
Five things separate a quote you can rely on from one you cannot.
- A written scope with exclusions. Modules, entities, integrations, reports and data objects listed by name, and a list of what is out. “Standard implementation” is not a scope.
- Named people. Who runs the workshops, who configures, who trains. Ask whether they are employees and where they are based.
- A data migration plan. Which records move, how many years of history, who cleans the data, and how the opening balances are reconciled back to your old system.
- Configuration before customisation. A partner who reaches for custom development in the first meeting is selling you upgrade work for years. Ask what the standard product does first.
- References you can ring. Two or three customers of similar size and industry, live for at least six months.
Our guide to what to look for in MYOB Acumatica consulting goes further into the questions to ask in the room.
What support is available after implementing MYOB Acumatica?
Two channels. Your partner is the first line: help desk, break-fix, minor configuration changes and the twice-yearly platform upgrades, usually under a monthly support agreement. Our cost guide puts those at roughly A$1,000 to A$3,000 a month depending on cover. MYOB’s own technical support sits behind the partner for platform-level faults.
What a support agreement does not usually cover is new work: new integrations, new modules, new customisations and training for new staff are quoted as projects. Ask to see the support agreement before you sign the implementation contract, because the two are usually with the same firm. Our post on MYOB Acumatica support lists what is included and what is extra.
When MYOB surveyed Australian mid-sized businesses in 2025, 36% said they were looking to upgrade their ERP and 48% named operational efficiency as the main reason. The implementation service is where that efficiency is won or lost, so it deserves as much scrutiny as the software did.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What are MYOB Acumatica implementation services?
They are the partner services that take MYOB Acumatica from licence to live system: discovery and scoping, configuration, data migration, integrations and customisation, testing and training, then go-live and ongoing support. MYOB sells the licence and certified partners do the implementation.
How long does a typical MYOB Acumatica implementation take?
Most projects take three to six months from kickoff to go-live. A fixed-scope program such as FastStart for wholesale distribution is built around a 12-week go-live, and a multi-entity rollout with custom integrations can run past nine months.
How much do MYOB Acumatica implementation services cost in Australia?
Indicative ranges are A$20,000 to A$30,000 ex GST for finance only, A$30,000 to A$50,000 with distribution and inventory, and A$55,000 to A$75,000 with manufacturing. Licences are separate, priced per named user and quoted through the partner.
What support is available after implementing MYOB Acumatica?
Your implementation partner is the first line of support for help desk, fixes, minor configuration changes and platform upgrades, usually under a monthly agreement. MYOB's technical support sits behind the partner for platform-level faults. New integrations, modules and customisations are quoted as projects.
Is customisation always required for MYOB Acumatica?
No. Many requirements are met by standard configuration, and fixed-scope programs limit customisation by design. Custom development should have a clear business case, because every customisation has to be tested against each platform upgrade.
